East Coast Livin'

Image
Welcome to the east coast in the United States during the winter. Here are a few snapshots of what my street looks like under a light blanket of snow. Over the past couple of days we've been experiencing a lot of snowfall and I have to say I've been enjoying it. Like the studious student that I am I overly enjoyed the days we had off due to the snow. How is the weather where you live? Let me know! Live~Laugh~Love Facebook ~ Twitter ~ Pinterest ~ Bloglovin

Part Three: Scolarships

This College Journey is going great so far! I've found that it's not cheap and finding a scholarship is harder than you think. you would expect they would tell you these things in school, the one place you learn but they don't you find out for yourself! Hopefully I can shed some light on some gray areas of the college process. To re-establish for any new readers I am in my junior year of high school. College is now starting to become a real thing for me. So as the plan-ahead type of girl that I am I have set out on my college journey! I don't think many people my age plan ahead as much as I do but I can't think of living my life any other way. So knowing that college is a mere year and some months away I started looking online for scholarships, I still have some digging to do but here are some sites that I found that could be useful to you: ~ Fastweb.com ~ Scholarshipexperts.com ~ Scholarship.com ~ Prospect.net Most of these scholarships are geared t...

Part Two: College Admission Tests

Image
So a couple months ago I had the privilege of taking the PSAT. This is a wonderful test that the State gives to students in their Junior year to see how they would test on the real thing. The SAT or the Scholastic Assessment Test is a standardized college test used widely for college admissions in the United States. These tests are usually taken at the end of your Junior year or the beginning/end of your Senior year. This test has three parts Reading, Writing and Math, each of these sections can be anywhere from 200 to 800 points for a possible total score of 2400. If you are curious or want more information about this test click here . The PSAT or Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test is a less intense version of the real deal but nonetheless scored similarly with the same amount of questions. This test took three hours (I missed three periods out of my eight period schedule, I don't have a lunch so I have eight classes) and it had Math and Reading sections. In my op...

Feliz día de Los Reyes

Image
For anyone reading my blog this lovely January evening, thank you! Many of you may not know that I am of Latin American descent. I am half Puerto Rican and half Dominican, for anyone that may not know these are Latin American countries that are in the Caribbean in between North and South America. I live in America with both my parents and my sister and we tend to slip away from our culture while living in America. Most people tend to adapt to the things around them after a while and I feel like we have fallen into this rut. El "día de Los Reyes" or Three Kings Day is celebrated in most Latin American countries. Instead of celebrating Christmas with Santa Claus coming down the chimney, they celebrate the Kings who visited Jesus after his birth and brought him presents. So on January 6th (as opposed to December 25th) the three Kings will bring the presents to the Children.   This year we decided to celebrate and participate in this lovely holiday. As I said w...

New Year, New Habits

Image
Every year at this time people make resolutions so that they can become a better person. Whether physically, emotionally or mentally everyone wants to become a better version of themselves in he year and set unrealistic resolutions for themselves. Along with these unrealistic goals, most people give up trying to achieve them within the first month of the new year. I am not suggesting to be the same person you are now. Everyone should always try to be the best person they possibly can but try doing it in smaller amounts of time at a less intense rate. For this new year a resolution of mine would be, to be a healthier person . I know, I know its a cliché but its true! So to make this an easier task to take on over this next year, starting the first week of January (January 4th) I will not eat fast food for the rest of the month. This is going to be extremely difficult because I like eating fast food. I'm not saying I eat fast food everyday but when I do I enjoy it. So seeing w...

Facing Fears

Hello friends of the internet, many of us have been spending this last week with family and loving friends. As it was Christmas this past Thursday. For Christmas I received the book Girl Online , a novel that was written by a British Youtuber Zoe Sugg aka Zoella . I enjoyed the book, I am an avid book reader and in my humble opinion the book was well written. I love the book for many reasons. One: I relate to the main character so well. She is a teenager in 11th grade (or in Year Eleven as the Brits say) and she has many embarrassing moments. Many of us think that we are the only ones that are super clumsy and make of fool out of ourselves but we're not. We all go through the same stuff, its a matter of letting it take us down or not. Two: She has a blog! I'm not to sure how many teens are out there blogging about life to random people on the internet but I don't imagine a huge amount (and if it is I will be highly impressed). So the part of the book that I lik...
