Dealing With Loss

Image
This past Thursday I lost my beloved dog Hershey... She was a Chihuahua and her birthday was on Monday. I know, I know really heart breaking but honestly I had the best 9 years with her and I will always remember her in my heart. On the day that it happened I had to go to school, but the previous night my family knew she wasn't feeling well so they were planning on taking her to the doctor that morning. So as I went to school and saw Hershey one last time she seemed to have a sad look in her eyes, like she knew that it was her time. That afternoon I had just walked home from school as I entered my house I noticed the gate was gone (Hershey was very small, as Chihuahuas are so she was kept in the kitchen). At first I dismissed it but as I continued to walk into the kitchen my mom had asked me if I knew (my dad was supposed to pick me up after school but he went to the wrong building) and I didn't know but I wasn't surprised when she told me. Hershey had died. At...

School is probably something I think about often. Finishing this year, then graduating next and college after that, with a whole bunch of things in between. Sometimes its good to step back and look at the positive in spite of all the stress and frustration. Recently I've been getting positive quotes and putting them as my phone back ground as a reminder. Here are some of my favorites... These were just some of what I've been inspired by, I love the positive and encouraging messages. There are more quotes on my Pinterest Board . Part Four: Internal Assessments

Image
Internal Assessments or IA's as we like to call them, is a term that students in the IB program use. Internal Assessments are essentially a project that must completed by the student in the correct manner (aka in an organized way that is of the IB standards). By the third marking period (second semester), students are expected to complete these IA's for all the corresponding subjects. For me this includes all of my core subjects. This means that I must create and complete a project by myself without help from my teacher.  And in order to get an A it must be conducted by IB standards. For Biology I have not one but two IA's that I have to complete. For this class my IA is conducted almost like a science fair project (an experiment that you would usually conduct in primary school) but my research has to organized and precise. Which is easier said than done. Although we have a month and some days to create, conduct and complete the experiment with seven ot...

Having A Bad Day

Image
There will be days in our life where everything will not go right or as you planned. It will seem like everything is going wrong and you have no control. It seems like whatever you do is just another embarrassing moment. And on top of everything, there is that one person who is calling you out on everything you're doing. Lately I have been having days like these with school, homework (which in my case is separate from school just because of  the fact it takes me multiple hours to complete all my assignments), home, extra curricular's and church. Trying to balance all these activities simultaneously is becoming a BIG challenge these days. Especially with all of these scholarship applications and IA's. My problem though, is letting all of this bundle up inside of me, trying to juggle all of these things at once really creates a lot of frustration as the days progress. I've started to let little things in my day bother me more and not putting ...

Lazy Morning

Image
On lazy mornings I usually stay in bed for a while and then come to the conclusion that I have to get out of bed. After I finally get out of bed its that weird time of day where it's too late for breakfast but too early for lunch so I have a light snack before lunch. This, in my opinion, is a very typical Hispanic dish. It's typically coffee and some bread with butter (the bread can also be substituted with crackers). My rendition consists of hot chocolate and crackers with butter. The warmth from the hot chocolate keeps me warm on cold winter mornings. The crackers add a nice salty contrast to the sweet chocolate. Hope you enjoyed this, tell me if you try it out :) Live~Laugh~Love   Facebook ~ Twitter ~ Pinterest ~ Bloglovin

East Coast Livin'

Image
Welcome to the east coast in the United States during the winter. Here are a few snapshots of what my street looks like under a light blanket of snow. Over the past couple of days we've been experiencing a lot of snowfall and I have to say I've been enjoying it. Like the studious student that I am I overly enjoyed the days we had off due to the snow. How is the weather where you live? Let me know! Live~Laugh~Love Facebook ~ Twitter ~ Pinterest ~ Bloglovin

Part Three: Scolarships

This College Journey is going great so far! I've found that it's not cheap and finding a scholarship is harder than you think. you would expect they would tell you these things in school, the one place you learn but they don't you find out for yourself! Hopefully I can shed some light on some gray areas of the college process. To re-establish for any new readers I am in my junior year of high school. College is now starting to become a real thing for me. So as the plan-ahead type of girl that I am I have set out on my college journey! I don't think many people my age plan ahead as much as I do but I can't think of living my life any other way. So knowing that college is a mere year and some months away I started looking online for scholarships, I still have some digging to do but here are some sites that I found that could be useful to you: ~ Fastweb.com ~ Scholarshipexperts.com ~ Scholarship.com ~ Prospect.net Most of these scholarships are geared t...
