Being Yourself

Image
So the social trials of being a teenager can sometimes be.... overrated. The constant need to compare yourself to others can sometimes be a chore. I have been recently been contemplating this and I have just decided to stop. It's so ridiculous that we feel the need to act like someone else! One of my favorite quotes it that "Just be yourself because everyone else is taken". This pretty much is my mantra for life, being yourself is the best person you can be. I've also learned its better to emotionally invest yourself into people who will care as much as you do. Someone who doesn't like you for whatever reason isn't worth your time. So aside from the negative things that come from this, there are also positive things. I have found by being myself I have been able to surround myself by wonderful people and make wonderful friends. Just by being myself I have developed so many friendships & strengthened old ones. Be Yourself Live ~Laugh~Lov

Liebster Award

I was nominated by Kristina at  http://simplifiedglamour.com  and she asked me these questions.... 1. How did you come up with your name? I took my nickname and tried to find a clever way to make it catchy. Thus was born sobylove. 2. What made you want to start a blog? My goal in life as a career is to become a fashion journalist, being a blogger would give me an outlet to write my own content and gain some experience. 3. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? A job I would love to do is be a fashion designer, ultimately I think it would be so amazing to have a product of my brain being transformed into reality and something that I can call my own. 4. What’s your favorite thing to do during your free time? I am such a nerd but I love reading, I’ve been trying to get my hands on a good book lately but I also have been doing a little bit of sketching. Mostly cartoons but I’m branching out a little more. 5. How would you describe your persona

Words From the Heart

I want to talk about what I believe in. I am a Christian, I believe that our religion is about having a personal relationship with Christ. Talking about this is not to slander other people’s beliefs or religions, I just want to express my own opinion.   I feel that being a Christian means our goal is to live like he was, perfect. Now we are obviously human and cannot achieve perfection, our free will allows us to mess up and learn from our mistakes. But the mere goal of trying to achieve perfection and to be like Christ is why I love being a Christian. Not to say I’m better than any other person but to be able to have a goal in life and try as hard as humanly possible to achieve that. Like I said before we are all human and will make mistakes so I often refer to bible verses or quotes to have daily reminders of this goal. Here are a few of my favorites….. To explain the picture above, I believe sometimes wanting something isn’t enough, believing in it and having faith ca

The Road To College

Image
Since I am in my junior year most of what I'm doing is going to set me up for college. For those of you who aren't as informed, when applying for college you must submit a transcript of your highschool which basically means that colleges get to stalk you & find out what you've been doing for the past two years. Since this is year one of college stalking I thought it would be a great idea to write about my journey of getting to college. Over the next two years every-other Thursday I will update you on what I've been doing to prepare for college.  So far this year I have managed to enroll myself into 5 college prep classes this school year. These classes include alot of homework (I'm talking 2 hours minimum to complete everything) and time management skills. I've also rejoined and signed up for clubs, being involved in your school shows colleges you are a well rounded student, the more involved the better! I'm currently applying to be a part of th

On A Mission

I don’t think I’ve fully explained why I started this blog. I love to write and I love fashion with my two passions combined I found the perfect career for me, to be a fashion journalist! This career has all the elements that I live for. I even remember how I got started on this journey…. Now when I was little people always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said things like a doctor or a teacher, but I was just saying things that I’ve heard I didn’t exactly find my niche. When I was I had a little (okay HUGE) obsession with Bratz dolls & movies. The re-occurring theme of “a passion for fashion” inspired me! I just couldn’t stop thinking of all the possibilities that came out of fashion. One time in 3 rd grade I remember I was bored in class and started drawing out fits on paper, I cut them out and gave them to my friends as a mock of my fashion line. Later other kids told me they wanted some to and I cut some more out and “sold” my line after school. This

Hairstyles For School

Image
By now we should be in our routine of school and this consists of getting up early in the morning and try to control our crazy hair. I have come up with some easy tips and hair styles that may help you with getting ready and making it a bit easier. Something very simple that works with any hairstyle is a side braid. Now this isn't the actual hairstyle this is a hairstyle that can help you achieve wavy/crimped hair. I usually put my hair in a braid before I got to sleep at night. I recommend making a very tight braid to help your hair create a wavy effect. After waking up I usually take out the braid and my hair is wavy, but I do have naturally curly hair so my hair usually doesn't need any products to help maintain the waviness.  But if you have naturally straight hair before taking out the braid I would use a flat iron over the braid and then take it out. Using the flat iron over will have an added effect on your hair to ensure its waviness. One hairstyle
